Welcome! I’m so happy you’re here!
My name is Kristina, and I created this blog to share the things that matter most to me, in case they might matter to you too. I share thoughts and stories about things I love: food and cooking, my home, my family and friends, my faith journey, and maybe some other fun things along the way.
Why “The Southern Midwesterner?” Although I haven’t lived there for quite some time, I consider myself a Midwesterner that happens to be living in the South.
My roots are in Missouri. I was raised on those Midwestern values – family and faith come first, work hard and do your best, smile and wave, and always look for the good. I love Kansas City style barbeque and am fiercely loyal to my Chiefs and Royals. Few things are more peaceful than a landscape dotted with corn fields and old farms. I grew up with tornado drills at school and standing at the bus stop in snow. And, I think some of the friendliest folks around live in those “fly over” states.
My roots are in the heartland, but today I call Georgia home. I am a proud University of Georgia graduate (go Dawgs), and I not only watch college football, but I can call the plays. While I don’t drink sweet tea, shrimp and grits or fried green tomatoes get me every time. My “ya’ll” game is strong, and I can recite every word from “Steel Magnolias” verbatim. When in doubt, the answer is most certainly, “What would Dolly do?” and I know for sure there is no hospitality like southern hospitality.
So there you have it – a Southern Midwesterner. I hope you enjoy my stories and maybe find something useful or get a chuckle along the way. I am so glad you are here!
